Frequently Asked Questions

Can I fix the mold myself?

BDR Pros does not recommend or endorse a homeowner performing remediation on it’s own but knows of no law that prevents a homeowner in doing so. But the risk of cross contamination and making things worse is high and should be left to a trained certified professional.

Should I test to see what type of mold is growing in my home?

If you know you had previous water intrusions or you smell musty odors. Or humidity problems are present. This is a valuable tool to determine the extent of the damage to your home or building.

How much does a mold remediation job cost?

Every mold job is unique and prices vary. Our company does provide free over the phone consultations.

Why should I use a remediation contractor instead of just a general contractor?

Because a remediation contractor is trained in the use of pressure differentials and the proper methodology to remove microbial contamination.

How do I determine whether or not I need remediation?

You should have a mold inspector evaluate your home or business to determine whether or not remediation is necessary and to write a protocol for such work. This inspection may also include microbial sampling.

What is post remediation verification aka Clearance testing?

This evaluation involves application of the internal quality control procedures of the remediator, and a sensory inspection of the containment area to insure that malodors, contaminated materials, visible dust and debris be removed.

What does HEPA stand for?

High efficiency particulate Air filter.

What are spore traps?

These are non-viable samples to allow for spore identification to the genus level and not the species level. Thus comparison of levels of similar types of indoor and outdoor spore types is not exact.
